Monika Malewska

is a professional tattoo artist and illustrator currently based in Reykjavik, Iceland. Over 10 years of experience in tattooing allowed her to develop a unique style often described as oneiric and mystic. She puts a strong focus on custom and personalised work with precision and attention to detail.

Born in 1991 in Poland, Monika grew up in a small village in one of the greenest parts of the country, surrounded by dense forests and endless fields. Local folklore mixed with religion shaped her first fantasies around these subjects and influenced the direction of her creations. 

In 2015 she graduated a master 's level in Architecture and Urban Planning from the Technical University of Bialystok. It was already career at that time that her career path led elsewhere. After making her first tattoo in 2014 she changed the course of her life and never looked back.

She creates to stay in dialogue with life. Constant search of meaning is then transformed into art. She finds dreams, visions and beliefs to be the greatest inspirations as they all speak a language of symbols and can be expressed in surrealism. 

While her personal art is based on introspection, tattoos that she creates tend to look deep into the people she works with. Monika puts a lot of emphasis on tattoos that carry meaning, because, as she believes, this is what makes it a real part of one’s body and creates dialogue with its soul.
